Getting Started in a "Natural Step" Study Circle.
Come join the brown bag "lunch bunch," for an informal discussion on getting started in a "Natural Step" study circle. In June the county and the city council approved to have La Crosse become an Eco +Municipality. What is an eco-municipality? The municipal government and community it serves will make a commitment to sustainable change. The goal of sustainable change is to reduce use of fossil fuels, metals and minerals, chemicals, encroachment upon nature, and to meet human and community needs fairly and efficiently. The hope is that all city/county departments and governing agencies in the area will work together to bring about change. The Natural Step is a comprehensive, common sense, proven approach that can carry us in to the new millennium. Its potential for combining economic success with social well-being and environmental responsibility is creating tremendous interest throughout the public and private sectors.

Here's your opportunity to be trained as a Special Registration Deputy for the State of Wisconsin. We have arranged for a Trainer from the Government Accountability Board (GAB) to come to La Crosse. This training will certify you as a legal registrar who can register any Wisconsin voter during open periods for the rest of this year. (And can be extended beyond this year) If you would like to participate in League sponsored voter registrations drives, or for any other registration drive in the state, you have to have this training. If you have been certified by the City of La Crosse, you still can register City Residents for the Clerk, but this will allow you to register those outside of the City.
To register, send an email to Ellen Rosborough ellen.rosborough@mchsi.com as soon as possible. The names are sent to the Elections Division of the GAB prior to the training so that they can prepare the certificates. Deadline is July 3.
There is no cost and you do not have to be a member of League, but you do have to be an eligible voter in Wisconsin.

Booming sawmills, fur trading, and boat building, made La Crosse once one of the busiest steamboat ports on the Mississippi River. Today, it remains a great place to take a riverboat cruise into the scenic Wildlife Refuge!
Carry-on's of food and drinks are allowed and welcomed during all of our cruises. We also permit coolers to be carried on, but we ask that you keep them on the small side.
We are located on at the south end of Riverside Park and there is ample free parking throughout the area.
