La Crosse Storytelling Festival Features Women's Suffrage
The 19th annual La Crosse Storytelling Festival is July 22 and 23 at the Pumphouse Regional Arts Center with stories for all ages. The afternoon session will feature Pippa White, a nationally recognized storyteller whose work has been described as entertainment wrapped in history and intertwined with inspiration. Her story of 72 Years to Women’s Suffrage will describe the struggles, disappointments, sacrifice, and triumphs in the words of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony, Alice Paul and so many others: all who endured ridicule, threats, imprisonment and forced feedings, so that women living in a democracy could vote.
The Saturday afternoon session is from 2:00 to 5:30 PM with Pippa’s segment at 3:15 PM. Tickets for the afternoon performances will soon be available online through the Pumphouse or at the door.
