Democracy Found: Nonpartisan Political Innovation in Wisconsin
Sara Eskrich, Executive Director of Democracy Found

Washington is broken. Nothing ever gets done. So, how can we fix our politics?

Many Americans are horrified about the dysfunction and abysmal results from Washington, D.C., but feel hopeless and disengaged. Democracy Found takes a unique approach—using the Gehl Porter Politics Industry Theory, which applies traditional tools of business analysis to politics and highlights the unhealthy system of political competition—to create a diverse, nonpartisan coalition of leaders committed to reinvigorating our democracy through open, top-five primaries and ranked choice voting in the general election (Final-Five Voting).

This presentation raises awareness of the underlying analysis and provides a nonpartisan call to action in Wisconsin, for the sake of our democracy. The talk is about politics, but it is not political.

Democracy Found is a Wisconsin-based initiative committed to revitalizing democracy. The organization is nonpartisan, with cross-partisan supporters.

By implementing a system wherein the top five candidates are selected from the primary ballot and ranked choice voting is used in the general election, we will ensure politicians are held accountable for delivering results. This, in turn, will renew each other’s belief that every vote counts and every voice is heard.

Happy 100th Birthday, June Kjome!

June Kjome, a long-time League member, will turn 100 years old on December 12.  For 18 years, June was a nurse-midwife in South Africa for native women during apartheid. She came back and worked at Gundersen for many years. June’s name can be found in minutes of early conversations about establishing many organizations that make LaCrosse a better place. She has been politically active and an advocate for so many with needs in the community.

Logging In and Completing Your Profile
We hope that you've had a chance to explore our new website and to complete your member login as described in the "Welcome to Club Express" email you should have received recently. In this week's Update, we are providing some additional resources to assist your introduction to our new management system.

If you have not logged in yet, you can access your account by going to the new LWVLA website and then clicking the "Member Login" button at the top of the page. Check out our Member Login Tutorial for illustrated directions for the login process.

One of the steps in your login will involve providing a profile for our online Membership Directory--located under the "About Us" tab. In the past, members have let us know if they don’t want their contact information in the printed membership directory handed out at the Annual Meeting.  In the new Club Express system, the Membership Directory lives online under the "About Us" menu tab. It is visible exclusively to our members when they are logged in. During login, you can develop your profile, choosing whether to appear in the Membership Directory and how much personal information to include in your entry. Directions for the Profile page are also included in the Member Login Tutorial.

Membership Directory
After you have logged in and set your new password, you will have access to the Membership Directory. It is available to view under the "About Us" tab for members only. Click on the "Search" button when you enter the directory to view all of our active members, or use the search function to look for information about an individual member. Everyone in our member database is shown in the directory unless they have opted not to be visible to other members.

Club Express and Privacy
ClubExpress is committed to meeting and exceeding all relevant international, federal, and state laws and industry guidelines regarding your personal information and how it is protected. More information is available about the Club Express Privacy Policy.

If you have questions or concerns about logging in or setting up your profile, use the Contact Us button on the homepage to send a message to Kathy Mulliner, Membership Committee Chair.

For a glimpse of all that Club Express offers, you can view a three-minute video about the LWV/Club Express partnership. We welcome your comments, questions, and recommendations--just click on the Contact Us button at the top of the homepage. And please let us know if you'd like assistance with your initial member login.
