Current Volunteer Requests

Both the La Crosse City and County Clerks encourage all private citizens to vote and to become involved in the election process.  One of the most rewarding ways to do this is to become an Election Day poll worker, also known as an election inspector.

Learn more and apply to be a poll worker on the City of La Crosse here

High school students are encouraged to apply. More information here.

Other area municipalities in the La Crosse area are likely also in need of Election Day poll workers. You can find contact information for your municipal clerk here. Check with them to see if they can use your help.

The LWVWI is working with our Wisconsin Voting Rights Coalition partners to coordinate a statewide nonpartisan effort to contact voters as the November Election approaches.

We are in need of volunteers who are knowledgeable about the voter registration process (review it here) and absentee voting process (review it here) willing to text voters. This is a great opportunity to connect with voters from the safety of your home.

This opportunity is for people who are comfortable with using apps on cell phones. We will provide training on how to use the app. Once you are trained, the volunteer schedule is very flexible. If you would like to volunteer for this opportunity, please sign up here

  • Interested in providing a witness signature for absentee ballot voters? Or helping voters get their ballot to their clerk's ballot dropbox?

  • Sign up to be a local contact with the Dane County Voter ID Coalition and the LWV of Dane County.

  • The coalition's free helpline number (608-285-2141) is advertised throughout the state, and many people from outside of Dane County call for assistance. These include people seeking rides to vote, assisting folks to obtain an ID while at local DMVs, and those needing help applying for absentee ballots and getting a witness signature.

  • We would like to identify local volunteers could provide La Crosse area assistance to local voters who need assistance.

Help the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin and Common Cause Wisconsin monitor election related social media content in Wisconsin. We are seeking volunteers to be trained as virtual Election Social Media Monitors. We provide training on what to watch for on social media platforms (like Facebook and Twitter) and provide support for volunteers while monitoring social media. This is a great volunteer opportunity for people who are already comfortable with social media. Sign up here.

Our partners at Wisconsin Conservation Voices are looking for volunteers to help call voters with registration information. This is a great opportunity to reach out to voters from your home. Volunteers need to have a computer or tablet (not an iPad) and a cell phone or landline. They have a number of sessions scheduled this month and would love to have you join them. Sign up for this opportunity here.
